Oh yes. Liquid chocolate cake.

Chef Wayne Johnson gives us the skinny on his Iron Chef appearance

My husband and I usually have date night on Saturdays, but last week we switched it up and went out on a Wednesday.  What could have inspired such a wild change in a couple of young parents with a schedule to keep?  Just one thing: Gourmet Godden.

Gourmet Godden at Andaluca did not disappoint. First it was chilled green gazpacho with crab, then award-winning duck cakes with apricot chutney, and finally a pan seared halibut with roasted tomato buerre blank and basil aioli.  One of the best pieces of fish I’ve had in years.  Oh yes, and liquid chocolate cake.

And while the food was wholly satisfying and delicious, the conversation was the real treat.  Chef Wayne Johnson told tales of his appearance on Iron Chef (and all the back-stage gossip). The guests at the table ranged from age “who cares”  to “who’s counting” – creating this unique sparkle of discovery and conversation that you just can’t get from hanging out with your usual crowd.

The next Gourmet Godden is August 17th at ART (another award winning Seattle chef!) and I’m hoping to wrangle my regular date into that one too.

I hope you’ll join us.  Learn more and RSVP here.
